"The Kickback" poster taped to a weathered pole, illustrated in a comic style showing a laneway party with a DJ setup, dominoes tables, string lights, and a food tent. Text reads: WEST Neighbourhood House, The Kickback, Domino Club, AUG 30, 3PM–9PM, Sounds by Tremayne, Food by Bin Street Eats, Sunday AUG 30 3:00–9:00PM, tickets $15 to play, QR code to register. A manifesto making the case that owning your own website instead of feeding a platform is basically punk.

A wheatpaste mural on a red-brick alley wall shows Audrey Hepburn in a white gown and tiara with a gold saint's halo behind her head, blowing a pink bubblegum bubble, signed FIIGUEERS. Red and black graffiti tags surround her. A black metal railing runs along the rooftop above, with wires and a copper downspout to the right and a sticker-covered electrical box at lower left. Clear blue sky at the top. — undefined - 21 Aug, 2026 at 12:07 PM

I started reading We Were Forbidden by Jacqueline Harpman.

A paperback copy of We Were Forbidden by Jacqueline Harpman rests on the lap of a person reclining on a couch, legs stretched out in khaki trousers and black socks. The cover shows a lone figure walking through a tall pine forest, the image fading from green at the top to deep red-orange at the bottom. A patterned rug and grey sofa fill the background.

A wooden boardwalk runs along the water's edge at dusk. Amber lamp posts glow on the right beside a beach and a line of trees. A distant city skyline reflects in the calm water on the left, under a blue and pink sky. — boardwalk at dusk - 14 Aug, 2026 at 9:19 PM

White and purple orchids in bloom on a bright windowsill. Potted plants line the sill in front of a tall window looking out onto a green field, trees, and a hydro tower under a blue sky with clouds. — orchids - 16 Aug, 2026 at 4:06 PM

A backlit grid of vintage 35mm photographic slides on a lightbox in a dark room. The slides show landscapes, waterfalls, a steam train, and coastal scenes, many tinted blue or amber with age. The right two-thirds of the frame is black. — slides - 14 Aug, 2026 at 9:55 PM

A pale lilac event graphic from 1rg.space. Text reads 'Aug 18 to 23', 'Silent Reading Club', and, in a black speech bubble, 'Silent Reading Club is happening on Tuesday next week.' A white button reads 'Register on Luma.' A line drawing shows a bicycle, a flower, and a tree along a path. Small text reads 'Curious Creative Caring.' — undefined

Sami Smith built Misen, a launchpad with a skeuomorphic design of a room. It’s kind of incredible what people are building with the help of LLMs.
