Treetops at night against a dark purple sky. The leaves are lit bright green from below and blurred sideways by wind, while the lower branches fall into black shadow. — undefined - 10 Oct, 2026 at 8:37 PM

A paved path curves into darkness at night. Trees on either side are lit green, with a dark conifer silhouetted on the right and a grey, cloudy sky above. The top of a white structure is partly visible behind the centre tree. — undefined - 10 Oct, 2026 at 8:38 PM

Spruce trees at night under a grey, hazy sky. One narrow spruce in the centre is lit almost white, glowing against the darker green trees around it. — undefined - 10 Oct, 2026 at 8:38 PM

I finished watching the latest season of Ted Lasso.

Ted Lasso (Season 4)

A black ink drawing of a dried artichoke on off-white paper. The bud is built from loose, dry-brush strokes, with heavy black outlines on the overlapping bracts at the right and lighter, feathery marks towards the pointed top. A thick, streaky stem runs straight down from the base. — undefined - 8 Oct, 2026 at 7:31 PM

archived awesome-static-generators today. new generators were turning up faster than I could review them, and a stale list isn’t much use to anyone.

it’ll be deleted on 1 november 2027, so fork it before then if you want to keep it going. I use Astro these days, if you are looking for a recommendation.

I finished watching Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.

A dim interior looking out through an open ornate black door and glass entrance onto a street, with a parked grey car and sunlit autumn trees outside. — undefined - 29 Sep, 2026 at 6:03 PM

My current jam is 15000000 easy by torr.

Stylized cartoon album cover showing a four-piece band performing in a wood-paneled recording studio, viewed through a control-room monitor. A red-haired guitarist, blond musician, masked drummer, and black-haired singer in angular white glasses play under warm pink and purple lighting.

A charcoal drawing pinned to a white wall with clear pushpins. A teapot with a short spout on the left sits against a heavily smudged dark background, its open lid swung up and back on a hinge at the upper right. The teapot and lid are left as pale, streaky paper where the charcoal was lifted or left out. Below the drawing, a small white card reads "Introduction to Drawing, with Tina Oehmsen-Clark". Edges of other charcoal drawings show above and to the right. — a teapot - 24 Sep, 2026 at 9:02 PM

A vintage chrome clothes iron with a black handle stands upright on its heel on top of a tan shoebox with a black "MAG creative footwear" band. The box sits on a paint-spattered stool in an art studio with worn wooden floorboards. A table draped in purple cloth with an upturned stool on top is behind it, and wooden easels and stools fill the background. — an iron - 24 Sep, 2026 at 6:21 PM

A charcoal drawing on white paper clipped to a paint-spattered wooden easel. Four studies of the upright iron are arranged in a loose grid, each drawn by shading the dark space around and inside it: blocky outlines with smudged grey sides, a narrow dark slot where the gap in the handle is. Two long horizontal lines run across the upper half of the page. — the iron, four times - 24 Sep, 2026 at 6:50 PM

A charcoal drawing on white paper held by a yellow clip and a metal bulldog clip on a paint-spattered wooden easel. Dark charcoal fills a squarish block in the lower two-thirds of the page, leaving the splayed legs and crossbar of an upturned stool as white paper in the shape of an H. Easels, stools, and a purple-draped table are visible in the studio behind. — an upside-down stool - 24 Sep, 2026 at 7:15 PM

Read up to page 38 of Burnside by Devyn Defoe.

Cover of "Burnside"

An orange tabby cat lying stretched out in the sun on a herringbone brick front patio, looking off to the right. Behind it, concrete steps with white wrought-iron railings lead up to a red-brick porch, with leafy plants and a climbing vine along the low wall. A fern sits in the lower left and a white iron fence runs across the foreground. — undefined - 20 Sep, 2026 at 2:33 PM

A painted wall in an alley at night. Along a white-painted strip at the base of the wall, a row of small black silhouettes walks in single file on a thin wavy line: a rider on a horse, a pony, and a line of figures with packs, bows, and an axe, led by a tall figure with a pointed hat and a staff. Handwritten to the right: "@DEWUCME 26, Fellowship of the Ring". Above, grey brick with blue, pink, and black graffiti; below, a concrete floor with dry leaves and faded stencilled lanterns. — undefined - 19 Sep, 2026 at 7:54 PM

I’m hosting Silent Reading Club at 1RG on the autumn equinox (Tuesday 22nd September at 6pm). Bring whatever you’re reading, find a comfy spot, and enjoy a few hours of quiet company with friends old and new. If you’re looking for something to read:

Into the dark by Kathleen Jamie, a winter spent hunting for actual darkness; quiet, beautiful prose.
In Praise of Shadows by Jun’ichirō Tanizaki, shadow as something to value rather than banish.
Total Eclipse by Annie Dillard, light leaving the world; the best “awe” essay in English.
The Book of Delights by Ross Gay, harvest and gratitude without the sentimentality.
