Fugleramme is a real-time bird detection system that listens for birds and renders them as hand-cut 1800s-style illustrations on an e-ink display powered by a Raspberry Pi.

Started my annual fall rewatch of Gilmore Girls.

Gilmore Girls (Season 1)

An overhead view of a wooden table covered in snack-dinner ingredients: two bags of chopped Asian salad kit, a bag of sea salt and vinegar kettle chips, a tin of assorted quail eggs and meatballs with its lid removed, a plate of snap peas, a stainless steel mixing bowl, two empty drinking glasses, a small plastic tub of pickled red onion, and two more plastic containers. A hand reaches in from the top right holding a piece of food. — undefined - 12 Sep, 2026 at 9:11 PM

A large bouquet of pink and coral flowers—roses, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and astilbe—in a glass vase on a cluttered desk, with a bookshelf, a poster of a red bridge over a river, a candle, and potted plants on a windowsill in the background. — undefined - 8 Sep, 2026 at 7:24 PM

A roadside gas station and Subway restaurant seen across a highway from a grassy shoulder, under a partly cloudy sky. A wooden sign post stands in the foreground on the right. — undefined - 7 Sep, 2026 at 2:47 PM

A large pile of crinkle-cut fries on a paper napkin, with two small cups of ketchup and two white compostable takeout containers (one labeled 'polish' in marker) on a black tray on a marble-topped table, a red folding chair in the background. — undefined - 7 Sep, 2026 at 3:03 PM

Evening light on a white garage and house with a corner window, seen along a gravel driveway. Tall trees frame the scene on both sides, with a cornfield visible beyond a hedge in the background, and a stone path leading through grass in the foreground. — undefined - 6 Sep, 2026 at 7:10 PM

White hydrangea blooms and a dark hedge in the foreground, a mowed lawn beyond, then a fog-shrouded cornfield rising to a treeline, all under a flat grey sky. — undefined - 5 Sep, 2026 at 6:47 AM

A flowering echeveria succulent in the foreground, two upright stalks with coral-red bell-shaped blooms rising from a rosette of blue-green leaves. Behind it, blurred, an outdoor stone fireplace with a wagon wheel and green watering can on the mantel, and a stacked firewood nook below. — an echeveria beginning of summer - 7 Jul, 2026 at 7:07 PM

The same echeveria, now with two much taller, arching stalks trailing dusty-pink and burgundy blooms down toward the frame's edges. It sits in a rusted galvanized planter on a patio, with a cream outdoor sofa and a brick wall with a decorative iron panel blurred behind it. — an echeveria end of summer - 4 Sep, 2026 at 10:22 AM

A view through a car windshield at dusk, dashboard in the foreground, a car ahead with red taillights on a two-lane road bordered by fields and trees, a pink sunset glow on the horizon. — undefined - 3 Sep, 2026 at 7:44 PM

A bottle of red wine and a glass poured half full on a speckled grey side table at night, a small black speaker beside the glass, a white rocking chair and a flowering shrub lit up in the dark background. — undefined - 3 Sep, 2026 at 10:10 PM

One hand holds a mixed bouquet of pink dahlias, purple larkspur, snapdragons, and baby's breath wrapped in pale blue paper, an iced coffee, and a brown paper bag, with a tiled floor and trash bin behind. — undefined

"The Kickback" poster taped to a weathered pole, illustrated in a comic style showing a laneway party with a DJ setup, dominoes tables, string lights, and a food tent. Text reads: WEST Neighbourhood House, The Kickback, Domino Club, AUG 30, 3PM–9PM, Sounds by Tremayne, Food by Bin Street Eats, Sunday AUG 30 3:00–9:00PM, tickets $15 to play, QR code to register. Other flyers overlap at the edges of the frame. — undefined

A manifesto making the case that owning your own website instead of feeding a platform is basically punk.

A wheatpaste mural on a red-brick alley wall shows Audrey Hepburn in a white gown and tiara with a gold saint's halo behind her head, blowing a pink bubblegum bubble, signed FIIGUEERS. Red and black graffiti tags surround her. A black metal railing runs along the rooftop above, with wires and a copper downspout to the right and a sticker-covered electrical box at lower left. Clear blue sky at the top. — undefined - 21 Aug, 2026 at 12:07 PM

A wooden boardwalk runs along the water's edge at dusk. Amber lamp posts glow on the right beside a beach and a line of trees. A distant city skyline reflects in the calm water on the left, under a blue and pink sky. — boardwalk at dusk - 14 Aug, 2026 at 9:19 PM

White and purple orchids in bloom on a bright windowsill. Potted plants line the sill in front of a tall window looking out onto a green field, trees, and a hydro tower under a blue sky with clouds. — orchids - 16 Aug, 2026 at 4:06 PM

A backlit grid of vintage 35mm photographic slides on a lightbox in a dark room. The slides show landscapes, waterfalls, a steam train, and coastal scenes, many tinted blue or amber with age. The right two-thirds of the frame is black. — slides - 14 Aug, 2026 at 9:55 PM

A pale lilac event graphic from 1rg.space. Text reads 'Aug 18 to 23', 'Silent Reading Club', and, in a black speech bubble, 'Silent Reading Club is happening on Tuesday next week.' A white button reads 'Register on Luma.' A line drawing shows a bicycle, a flower, and a tree along a path. Small text reads 'Curious Creative Caring.' — undefined

Sami Smith built Misen, a launchpad with a skeuomorphic design of a room. It’s kind of incredible what people are building with the help of LLMs.

A black-and-white photo looking up at a shelf from a low, couch-level angle. Four posters hang on the wall: a grid of tiny illustrated trees, a striped optical-perspective print, a painting of a woman resting a katana on her shoulder against a city skyline, and a Caribou Honey poster. Below, a record shelf holds vinyl upright, with If I Could Make It Go Quiet by girl in red turned face-out, a hooded figure lit from within. In front sit an orchid, a small R2-D2 card, a framed photo of trees, and a light box reading TWENTY PAST EIGHT. A turntable sits to the right, with more records lining the shelf below. — undefined - 9 Aug, 2026 at 8:20 PM

A clear glass vase of cut flowers stands on a cluttered table in a sunlit room. The bouquet holds two round yellow marigolds, ruffled pale-blue carnations, tall white and blush snapdragons, and small orange daisies among green foliage. Afternoon light comes through a window on the right, past a potted plant on the sill. In the background at left, a low bookshelf holds a white-and-red Polaroid camera above a dark TV screen and rows of books. On the table in front are magazines, a small devotional prayer card, and two cups holding pens, brushes, and markers. — undefined - 9 Aug, 2026 at 4:00 PM

Love this essay by Conor Dougherty about 40- and 50-somethings who skate a Costco car park before work. Curbs as an excuse to keep showing up for each other.

A large mural on the side of a two-tone yellow-and-grey building fills a dark laneway at night. It shows a woman with flowing teal-blue hair and a crown of yellow flowers, holding an orange cocktail glass aloft in one hand; oranges, plums, and blossoms spill across her white robe. Red spray-paint tags cover the grey lower wall to the right, and metal bollards line the sidewalk in the foreground. — undefined - 1 Aug, 2026 at 9:44 PM
